This method uses an Alternating Current (AC). A fine needle is held in place by a hand set which delivers the High Frequency (HF) current into the hair follicle via the tip of the needle. The hair follicle is a tubular cavity in which the hair root sits in and is also connected to the papilla. The papilla is active and contains all the blood vessels and nutrients necessary for hair growth.
When the tip of the needle comes into contact with the moisture within the follicle cavity and the High Frequency is delivered, the moisture heats due to the oscillation action of the Alternating Current. The heated moisture causes coagulation of the living tissue killing the active cells. At this point the hair is detached and removed with sterile tweezers. In time the whole renewal cycle takes place and new hair begins to grow back, however, the hair becomes softer, weaker and eventually stops growing.
As this is a progressive treatment it is important that regular visits are made for it to be successful. A full consultation is necessary to devise your treatment plan. Regular visits will be required to treat the hair and monitor the results.
This method is used mainly on the face and has been used in the past for under arm, bikini and legs; however, laser hair removal has become more popular for larger and more stubborn areas. The diathermy method is still highly successful if applied correctly; however, long gaps between treatments defeat the object.
